The Card Back
'And, in the Garden stood The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.'
Sitting in the branches, kitties and squirrels, spiders and ants, birds and raccoons call to mind the web of life in which we are embedded. Looking down from his branch, a boy in his night shirt watches the ground below. Perhaps, he is thinking about the taste of the pears that also hang from the branches.
Or, is he watching one of the foxes of the forest that is sleeping at the root of the tree. Wiley, calm, self-assured, the fox rests in the knowledge that he is protected and safe.
Balanced and flowing, the image is one more symbol of our journey from callow and untutored youth to fruitful maturity.
